Fresh Seafood and Poboy's
Best Boiled Seafood on The Coast
I grew up years ago in the Pass and New Orleans. I came back for a visit, and I love to support local restaurants when I am back.
Li'L Rays was suggested by the hotel as a place to get good boiled crawfish. Sadly, they were sold out of crawfish. I can understand that though, so no worries.
I ordered...
Party of 8. The crawfish were small, and I could hardly even peel the shell away. It almost got boring to deal with them. The soft shelled crab po boy lacked a lot of crab. Picnic tables and benches require some agility and are not for small tykes.
I do not eat here much because I can get a much better meal for the same price at the Harbor and have a much better view and better service.
First time at Lil Rays was pretty good. Restaurants ebb and flow. I had read mixed reviews. But what's important is that it is very good right now. Had raw oysters and boiled Royal Reds. Very good. Jay was an excellent waiter and very passionate about excellent food. I will go back for sure.
Food was mediocre at best, server brought of my food with bread piled on top of it, even though I took several minutes to explain my gluten allergy and instead of just handling it the waitress passed the buck to the cook. Also the tables were very uncomfortable to sit for more than twenty minutes.
Lil Rays Restaurant was founded in 2001, and is located at 124 Jeff Davis Ave in Long Beach. Additional information is available at www.lilraysrestaurant.com or by contacting Ramond Kidd at (228) 822-2400.
