New American restaurant in the former Eighty Four space.

A pair of Public alums bring thoughtful New American to the West Village. Clean but cozy, white brick walls and dark wood floors, pithy quips scribbled on a blackboard. Crispy sweetbreads and bone marrow to start; golden tilefish with quinoa rests easy, but for those days when it’s needed, the cast-iron skillet burger with garlic aioli is a choice choice. Six months since our Thanksgiving dinner at Leyla, I still savor the memory of that dining experience. Thanksgiving was served buffet style with the chef serving and describing each dish, creating a personalized buffet.
