Leadbelly Restaurant Review

Atypical burgers take the stage at Leadbelly, a venture from former school teacher Nicole Masse O'Brien and her husband Steve O'Brien (Carlos'). The meat is house-ground and the buns are house-made. Add that to the fact that options --- like the House of the Rising Sun burger, topped with a fried egg, cheddar, smoked bacon and Bloody Mary sauce --- sound plenty appealing.

Wallet-friendly burgers and a touch of the blues are offered at this Portage Park rock 'n' roll–themed spot that grinds its meat, bakes its buns, hand-cuts its fries (available several ways) and makes its sauces from scratch; shakes and a rotating trio of craft beers are also on hand in the casual setting with musicians' portraits and music videos setting the tone.

Saw this place on check please and had to go. Showed up on a Friday night and it was full, but we didn't have to wait too long to sit. The burgers are pretty good. I'm super excited for places like these around the area. Not as good of burgers as The Lock down or Kumas but still pretty good. I ordered it medium but it ended up being medium well with some burnt taste on the outside... but I like my meat with some pink. Should've ordered medium rare. But good place

I stopped to get a carry out burger. It was a very busy saturday afternoon, so I figured I'd have to wait.
