Le Diplomate Restaurant Review

Bustling Le Diplomate features a Parisian bistro atmosphere with its smoky mirrored walls and dark wood interiors. Patrons line up (literally) to get a table to enjoy the French cuisine (best bet: make reservations well in advance). Start with the escargots drenched in a parsley-garlic butter and topped with puff pastry; add to that pâté de campagne, a textured wedge of country pâté packed with...

Trendy 14th Street NW feels a bit like the Champs-Élysées at Stephen Starr's movie set of a French brasserie, with its zinc bar, tile floors and vintage fittings plus a sidewalk cafe; a menu of Gallic classics completes the scene, along with cocktails, apéritifs, beer and wine, bien sûr; P.S. it's been a hit from the get-go, so reserve or go early to nab an outdoor seat.

Had a wonderful meal last night with family. Having Celiac Disease I always worry about getting gluttened. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the choices I could safely eat. Atmosphere was great and everyone enjoyed their meal.

New on the scene but certainly a classic in the making, Le Diplomate recreates the experience of the classic Parisian café. Spend an afternoon sipping a cappuccino and people-watching from your outdoor seat under Le Dip's red awning. Or come for an aperitif paired with a crusty, homemade baguette and a selection of French cheeses. ©10Best.com
