We had lunch at Le Cigare Volant early in the afternoon - not yet busy. Service was good to very good (a bit of obnoxious upsell). The menu is made up of small plates with options that worked for us as vegetarians. The selection is small - maybe eight to ten choices. However, everything was outstanding. They are closing. It was an interesting experiment but the venue was not right for such gourmet fare.
Lunch was awesome, but the tasting was deplorable. The server ignored us even though we had a reservation for 6. We finally walked out after tasting the chardonnay which was mediocre. I realize now the $20 I left was way over the top for what we received.
The dishes are impeccable and very carefully thought out. Amazing combined flavors and very distinctive presentation. Truly a special dining treat. I am so sad to see the restaurant close its doors. Hopefully, the chef has bigger and better plans ahead.
The four of us split 2 appetizers- the Brussels sprouts and the smoked fingerling potatoes. We all had the rib eye steaks and split two desserts. In the end, everything was delicious, a three hundred dollar bill (which did include an $80 bottle of wine), and we were still hungry.
