What the community has to say about Lakeside Lounge (Reported Closed)

Information about this business (2)

Art deco cocktail lounge with authentic rock & roll spirit. Think Rolling Stones in 1960's Paris, Dorothy Parker if the Algonquin Round Table had a band, and NYC of yesteryear but with an optimism for the here and now.

In Short Family recipes fill the menu at this East Village destination for Italian fare. The owner's parents crowd the kitchen, churning out thin-crusted pizzas, panini, burgers and salads. Whitewashed brick walls and farmhouse…

Takes Lakeside’s broken wings, learns to fly. Former Blackbird takes inspiration from songs by Roy Orbison and Suicide. Legendary space keeps continuity with a carryover bartender, along with some help from Niagara/Bowery Electric hands. The live shows are gone, but DJs step up to ensure plenty of atmosphere. The live shows are gone, but DJs step up to ensure plenty of atmosphere. Rock ‘n’ roll vibe, pretense kept to a minimum. Flashbacks to an East Village past definitely welcome.

Well-worn, unpolished, gruff bar. Younger blue-eyed-soul crowd mingles with broody art school drop-outs. Super awesome blues-driven jukebox. Makes for long nights of drinking Wild Turkey straight up and listening to the newest 2-piece garage band obliterating your ear drums. Old-school photo-booth ensures endless creative possibilities for fun-making and semi-public nudity. Surely you win some...

This lounge stands out for its little things. The great jukebox, photo booth and don’t forget it’s free. This allows you to spend your well-earned money at the bar where it belongs. The sound is definitely country rock and when they have larger names its best to get there early, remember other people know it’s free too!

Maria is the consummate hostess, and her magical cocktails are deliciously dangerous.

Danny and Maria are great folks. Had really refreshing conversation in the early evening on a weekday (tonight) at Dream Baby-- a moment that embodied what I love most about the East Village. I recommend stopping by here at an earlier hour or an off night to decompress and share stories and sentiments with great people who love this neighborhood.

This definitive dive has recently become more of a destination spot for downtown hipsters - yet has managed to avoid morphing into a complete circus on weekends. The space is on the small side (one room with the bar and another with a petite stage for local bands) with little decor to speak of, but the biggest draw is the vintage photo booth where $4 gets you a strip of 4. A righteous jukebox,...

Place to hear a wide range of music from country-and-western to the blues.
