The chopped salad is "legendary" ("everyone orders it in some fashion or another") at these "charming" Italians in Beverly Hills and Brentwood also luring "ladies who lunch" with other "reliable", "nothing-complicated" fare; expect "civilized" settings, "cordial" service and moderate prices; P.S. it's "great for takeaway" too.

I AM 81 YEARS OLD..USED TO WAIT IN LINE WHEN LA SCALA WAS ON BEVERLY DRIVE...when they moved..I followed...today 7/6 I had a doctors appointment and found out my daughter was driving in from simi valley with my grandson to eat at la scala...I told them I would not be done in time, but I was and drove and parked, calling my daugher who was seated for 2 in a large booth..restaurant was 3/4 empty at 11:45...she saw me across the street and told the waiter one more was coming...the manager came over and said I could not order...really...why, because my daughter had LIED about how many people...

Busy Saturday night. Food was horrendous. The penne with vodka sauce actually still had the vodka in it because the chef had not bothered to burn off the alcohol completely. The Bolognese sauce had meat that was terribly overcooked. The filet mignon was dry and I suspect the reason for the dryness was freezer burn and therefore lost its moisture. The veal Milanese was pounded thin but perhaps...
