La Poubelle --- which happens to mean trash can in French --- is a genuine French neighborhood café, and the food, like the somewhat shabby décor, is basic and comforting. Classic bistro favorites include onion soup, escargots Bourguignon, steak frites and coq au vin, most of which are reliable, if hardly inspired. Serious diners arrive early, before young, carefully disheveled Hollywood crowds clog the center aisle and vintage Michael Jackson hits the turntables. Loosely translated, La...
It's that simple. Great wait staff. Horrid food.
Very accommodating and pleasant and plentiful wait staff. In fact we had about 6 waiters because there were 2 waiters in training shadowing our servers. We weren't quote sure how many servers we actually had. - Something like 6.

They don't take reservations for parties larger than 6 but the host Robert was amazing and super accommodating and made sure we got a …
Jacqueline opened La Poubelle in 1969 based on a childhood dream of having a creperie in America. Almost five decades later, the legacy continues with her daughter Françoise catering to loyal neighbors and friends. La Poubelle has truly become a Hollywood landmark....

We utilize organic, local, small farm produce and meats & sustainable fish whenever possible. We grow many of our own herbs, greens and vegetables on our own rooftop garden. La Poubelle, established in 1969, has been serving great French food in the same spot on Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles for four decades. It’s regarded by locals as a Hollywood landmark.
