La Poubelle Bistro & Bar Restaurant Review

La Poubelle --- which happens to mean trash can in French --- is a genuine French neighborhood café, and the food, like the somewhat shabby décor, is basic and comforting. Classic bistro favorites include onion soup, escargots Bourguignon, steak frites and coq au vin, most of which are reliable, if hardly inspired. Service can have its issues, but La Poubelle’s burger with frites is just the...

Beachwood Canyon favorite, this boisterous French bistro features a funky after-dark scene.

I had a bad experience with the stuff in Paris when I was a kid (I had young parents who thought it would be funny to feed their kid frog legs and snails and wait 'til I was chewing to tell me.). Last time I was in France, all I ate was fast food. So, yeah... But La Poubelle has …

I'd walked past this place so many times to get coffee with my girlfriend at The Oaks. She had always wanted to sit on the patio. We finally decided to go for her birthday. They don't take reservations for parties larger than 6 but the host Robert was amazing and super accommodating and made sure we got a …

Business description (8) view all

Jacqueline opened La Poubelle in 1969 based on a childhood dream of having a creperie in America. With humble beginnings, a small kitchen where the bar now resides, 35 crepes and 15 omelets were served to the music of Edith Piaf. Almost five decades later, the legacy continues with her daughter Françoise catering to loyal neighbors and friends. La Poubelle has truly become a Hollywood landmark....
