Outstanding food

Outstanding food - the flavors were unique and some quite ecstatic. The service from everyone who took care of us was outstanding, and could not have been more perfect.

Johnny Monis leads diners on a "gastro-adventure" at his Dupont Circle American-Med "temple" offering a "dazzling variety of dishes beautifully prepared and executed" in a "subdued", "understated" setting, made more "relaxing" by a staff that's "detail-oriented without being uptight"; "expect to spend the evening" as they "serve and serve and serve" a fixed-price "parade" of plates along with...

Where To Get Your Goat

Goat is not the other, other white meat. It's actually the other, other, other red meat. But it's often much healthier than its red meat cousins since it tends to be leaner — those watching their cholesterol can have their meat and eat it, too.

Sometimes called mutton (depending on the country; the term is more widely used for sheep) or chevon for grown-up goats, or kid for the babies, goat is...

25 Last Meal Destinations Around Town

Last week's Open Thread asked readers, "What and Where Would Be Your Last Meal in D.C.?" There were plenty of opinions, from beloved pizza joints to big-ticket restaurants to D.C. institutions. Here are 25 restaurants that readers singled out, with some people offering exactly what they'd order as well.

Johnny Monis is James Beard Best Chef Mid-Atlantic

Congratulations are in order for Johnny Monis. The chef of Little Serow and Komi received his first James Beard award last night. Monis beat out such other local chefs as Cathal Armstrong, Spike Gjerde and Vikram Sunderam, not to mention Philadelphia's Brad Spence, for the honor. Monis has been nominated for a James Beard award before.

It was a big year for Monis. His tribute to regional Thai...

Bethesda Magazine finds solid barbecue at Smoke

Bethesda Magazine gets its first taste of the new Smoke BBQ. Bethesda is pretty lacking in barbecue choices, and while not perfect, this one sounds like a positive addition to the neighborhood.

This is among the most expensive restaurants I have ever eaten. And while the food was good, the value was very poor.

Komi Restaurant serves a multi-course dinner Tuesday through Saturday. They require reservations and only allow for parties of up to 4 people. Menu includes items such as pasta and duck.

Its cuisine may technically be modern Greek, but Komi's amazing food is worthy of the ancient gods. Helmed by the genius Johnny Monis, the place is a haven for true foodies, who'll eat up the restaurant's every detail, from its creative garnishes to its homemade lollipops. A romantic dinner here begins with fresh-baked bread or crackers and a gratis starter course, and continues with whatever...

The best way to celebrate another birthday could be to enjoy an eight-course meal at this cozy dining area. Run by Chef Johnny Monis the tasting menu is worth celebrating. It doesn't hurt that his parents are natives of Greece, giving the food additional authenticity. Neat clean white cloths cover each table, creating a cozy, yet classy dining experience. And the soft lit close area, makes it...
