For a space owned by an artist, Kinski is remarkably unadorned: plywood walls, wood floors and a large wooden communal table. Lonely--and hungry--in her studio, Zipora Fried often missed the knödel of her homeland, so her cafe specializes in these dumplings, as well as other Czech-Austrian specialties. Both the apricot and nougat knödel are served with vanilla sauce and whipped cream. Savory options range from fried cheese with spinach to “bread” with mushroom sauce.
