Great Food..

GREAT food. I've been looking for a good BBQ place ever since I moved to California from KC (which is home to the BEST bbq ever) but nothing ever measures up. This place was the closest I could get to home. I had the brisket, which was good, but everyone else at my table got the pulled pork, which was better. Megan F Huntington beach, CA‎

Delicious food!!

I usually only make it to San Diego once a year during comic-con.
This has always been a place that my friends and I have have to visit. Last year, I was really disappointed because it had burned down but this year I am soooo jazzed!
I love the lunch and dinner combos. I'm a carnivore and as far as I'm concerned the more meat, the better.
I really don't care that Top Gun was filmed there. I go there for the food. It's not classy, it's a bit fatty but it's delicious!

I had a blast there!!

This rating is NOT for food, as I didn't eat there but purely for the drinks!
Okay, so shoot me, I've never seen Top Gun (although after I went to KC BBQ, I was finally inspired to rent it). I'm the type of person who thinks going to filming locations is "cool," so I'm all about it.
We went here for a friend's birthday and headed to a PJ party later. So the attire is (obviously) casual. It was your typical dive bar (but also awesome). Lot's of locals, and the bartenders were really cool to talk to. I like a place with so much history so I enjoyed their stories.
Beer was SOOO cheap! And get ready for the "night-train." I don't want to give it away but when a train goes by, prepare to drink!
I really enjoyed this place. I didn't eat the food so I can't comment on that but I had a blast here. I recommend for the cheap drinks and good times.

Operations may be disrupted due to COVID-19. Be sure to contact the restaurant to find out its current status and offerings.Kansas City Barbeque Restaurant Review

An upgraded kitchen and smoker mean tasty brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis ribs and burnt end favorites are available. The usual suspects come as sides like corn on the cob, rings, fries, beans, potato salad and slaw. Another claim to fame: the sleazy bar scene in “Top Gun” was filmed here and this cinema trivia also draws a crowd to downtown's favorite barbecue scene. We like going in a big...

Scenes for ""Top Gun"" were filmed here, but the savory ribs and memorabilia-filled dining room elevate it to legendary status.

Worst BBQ possible, grab some Arby’s, go home and watch Top Gun instead. Brisket was dry enough to be classified as jerky, vinegar appears to be the main ingredient in their slaw and potato salad....

I really wanted to like this place. We had the most fun watching our hometown team with the locals. But the food was inedible aside from the French fries. The fries were delicious. The ribs were a...

Original site of the Bar in the first Top Gun Film, Photos are in place to show how it was staged. The service was quick and pleasant and the food is plentiful and reasonable priced.

Overwhelming amount of Kansas City and Top Gun memorabilia as decor. Otherwise, eating utensils and place settings are very basic/disposable. The food was good and plentiful. Service was friendly and proficient.

Worth going for the food

Context: Just looking for somewhere for quick dinner super close to hotel while feeling tired and anti-social at a conference. I stumbled across this place and only when in there did I realise the Top Gun connections. For some people, I suspect this could be...a pilgrimage place.

Positives: Friendly, quickly, massive food portions. I have the brisket with beans and fries. Pretty good.
