What the community has to say about Kansas City Barbeque

Information about this business (6)

Offering a huge patio with a terrific view of the harbor, this venue is famous for its role in the film Top Gun (Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis ate here in the movie). Clientele ranges from curious tourists to die hard regulars who flock here for the "real" food. The barbecued chicken and rib meals come with all-American side dishes like corn on the cob, tasty fries, coleslaw and potato salad....

Bring the whole family!!

I felt that KC's offered a great menu and good service. The food was great and the service was fantastic. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and menu for even the pickiest of eaters. Bring the whole family and they will all be satisfied and full Zack K‎

Great Food..

GREAT food. I've been looking for a good BBQ place ever since I moved to California from KC (which is home to the BEST bbq ever) but nothing ever measures up. This place was the closest I could get to home. I had the brisket, which was good, but everyone else at my table got the pulled pork, which was better. Megan F Huntington beach, CA‎

Delicious food!!

I usually only make it to San Diego once a year during comic-con.
This has always been a place that my friends and I have have to visit. Last year, I was really disappointed because it had burned down but this year I am soooo jazzed!
I love the lunch and dinner combos. I'm a carnivore and as far as I'm concerned the more meat, the better.
I really don't care that Top Gun was filmed there. I go there for the food. It's not classy, it's a bit fatty but it's delicious!

I had a blast there!!

This rating is NOT for food, as I didn't eat there but purely for the drinks!
Okay, so shoot me, I've never seen Top Gun (although after I went to KC BBQ, I was finally inspired to rent it). I'm the type of person who thinks going to filming locations is "cool," so I'm all about it.
We went here for a friend's birthday and headed to a PJ party later. So the attire is (obviously) casual. It was your typical dive bar (but also awesome). Lot's of locals, and the bartenders were really cool to talk to. I like a place with so much history so I enjoyed their stories.
Beer was SOOO cheap! And get ready for the "night-train." I don't want to give it away but when a train goes by, prepare to drink!
I really enjoyed this place. I didn't eat the food so I can't comment on that but I had a blast here. I recommend for the cheap drinks and good times.

Kansas City Barbeque Restaurant Review

An upgraded kitchen and smoker mean tasty brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis ribs and burnt end favorites are available. The usual suspects come as sides like corn on the cob, rings, fries, beans, potato salad and slaw. Another claim to fame: the sleazy bar scene in “Top Gun” was filmed here and this cinema trivia also draws a crowd to downtown's favorite barbecue scene. We like going in a big...

Good BBQ, and Chili. The atmosphere is outstanding, my son is a huge "Top Gun" Fan and the place is great with all the movie and military memorabilia.

This is a cool place to see the top gun nostalgia. The service at the bar is great with the bartender but they are lacking in the waitress department. Slow service and there were 6 people there when we were. Being from KCMO I can...

As the name suggests, the Kansas City Barbeque is known for offering scrumptious barbecue delicacies. Located on West Harbor Drive, this restaurant and bar is locally owned and operated by Martin and Cindy Blair. Since its inception in 1983, the establishment gained popularity when it was used as a filming location for the much popular movie Top Gun featuring Tom Cruise. The restaurant decor is...
