Have eaten here occasionally (a bit pricey for me) since I moved to Alameda thirty years ago. The owner, Faith, keeps a clean and friendly restaurant. She's an Alameda original and an Alameda tradition.
The Tonkatsu is the best I've ever had.

Kamakura is one of those restaurants I go to every time I am in the SF Bay Area. I'm lucky as my Mum lives in Alameda, so this is usually a stop at least twice whilst I'm there. The food is excellent, every single time. The maki is the best I've ever had and service is spot on.

Kamakura is an institution in Alameda and hopefully it will be for a long time. The food is great and the people very warm and friendly. Never a bad meal there.
