Jovita's Mexican Restaurant

Jovita's is part Mexican restaurant, part nightclub, part Mexican-American cultural center. The food is okay, not great, but it's quite the place to sip a margarita while watching some of the best acts in town -- mostly country but also some Latin groups.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food and live homegrown Conjunto, Tejano or Americana music, Jovita's has got whatcha lookin' fo'. A few days ago a ring of heroin dealers was busted. They all worked out of "Jovita's", including one of the owners. According to the authorities, heroin has been sold out of this restaurant for years.
I think they are planning to reopen it at some point. I've never eaten at the restaurian and maybe the rating based on criminal...

Great food, 'ritas, and of course an awesome live music venue

This little restaurant has been there since the mid 90's but feels like it's been there forever. Great dance floor, awesome staff and easy access from the downtown area. I've seen so much great live music there. Worth taking the time to go there for a nice casual dinner with friends and family.

Delicious Tex-Mex is served at this long-time South Austin diner. The environment is casual, with Mexican art and murals adorning the walls.
