While this major classical company concentrates on touring, the Joffrey schedules about 6 weeks of performances a year in its hometown. Its repertoire extends from the ballets of founder Robert Joffrey, George Balanchine, and Jerome Robbins to the cutting-edge works of Alonzo King and Chicago choreographer Randy Duncan. Nutcracker

Decided to go to the Saturday performance. Ticket purchased the same morning, seat up close and perfect, packed house, champagne, music, dancing excellent. Didn't want it to end. Bought a tee shirt souvenir.
As an aside, lost my scarf there. Called the office later, got a call back and picked up my scarf a few days later. Very nice.

I have been a subscriber of the Joffrey for 15+ years, and am always impressed with the quality of performance. They have a great blend of classical repertoire, new works, and more modern pieces. There is something for everyone in each season.

Excellent Nutcracker show

We try to see the Nutcracker show every other year because it's amazing although pricey. It is so worth it though, the costumes and the dancers are all incredible.
This year, we sat in the boxes and the seats were great.

The final season of the Robert Joffrey choregraphed Nutcracker. It was breathtakingly beautiful. This Christmas Classic brought me back to the first time I saw it when I was a little girl. The Snow King and Queen were amazing and talented. The entire cast was fabulous!

The ballet is two hours including the 20 minute intermission. The atmosphere is warm and festive at the beautiful Auditorium Theatre. This show is appropriate for all but the youngest children (age 5 and up) and you...

Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino's uniquely American vision of dance first took form in 1956. The original company consisted of six dynamic and highly individual dancers. While Robert Joffrey stayed in New York to teach ballet classes and earn money to pay the dancers' salaries, Gerald Arpino led the troupe across America's heartland, in a station wagon that pulled a U-Haul trailer.
