There are only certain thing you should order here. Not with guacamole (because it tastes like dish soap). Fish tacos are fish sticks in a corn tortilla...

4 stars for their 24 hour chorizo breakfast burrito. I go to work early, and am an insomniac, and I don't eat fast food. So, for a noob to Kenton, it's a...

El Lame-o Mexicano. I was expecting something a little dingier, but it looks like this place has recently received a facelift of sorts, as there was none of the broken english signage I had read so much about nor was the place a grimy filth pit, as Id also heard. I used to eat in places like this when I lived in SoCal years ago. Great filler for those drunken late nights when all you want is...

Dirty but quick, especially at 2:30AM. Just keep your eyes moving to prevent yourself from focusing on anything in particular and you'll be ok.

Tips about this business (3)

With its fluorescent dining hall ambiance and strip-mall setting, this grimy St. John’s taco shop doesn’t win points for personality. But diners don't flock here for the scenery or even Portland's best Mexican food. They come for cheap, filling grub 24 hours a day. Fat SoCal-style burritos and a salsa bar with hot carrots and radishes please those searching for a note of authenticity, while others may be overwhelmed by the sprawling yellow menu: a bible of taco shop standards with occasional treats like rolled tacos in 3s or 5s, carne asada French fries and a nopalitos burrito.

What to Drink

The horchata is fresh and good for that hangover you'll probably have in the morning.

When to Go

Late-night weekend runs, say after 2am, offer an interesting cross-spectrum of drunks--errrrr, people.
