ive been to safran many many times and it was a bit expensive but food is great. At first when they changed their name I thought chef's were changed as well. I was bit concerned about the quality of the food.. Then they told me everything is still the same except for the name.
Loved the food and other new varieties they have on the menu now. Wll definitely continue to come.

Its so true, its not all cracked up to be, the Vietnamese sandwich was below average compare to the ones sold in the L.E.S for $4. This place is over rated. Service for me was bad, not to mention the language barrier. Some Asian guy was rude to my party, obviously he was part of the restaurant. Over all service was horrible, food was average.....
Cons
- Food was average, BAD SERVICE

Quality is very similar to Chinese take out. And they have the nerve to charge $8 for green tea!! Would not return.
I live a block away and have always thought that for the type of cuisine - Omai meets Republic - it was a little over-priced. They had a drink special and a pre-fixe menu, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The food is ambitious and fails for the most part. It's not terrible, but they should shoot lower and actually sucede. The worst thing though, is the inattentive, uninformed, nasty service....
