Kids whined waiting for doors to open . Then let them run ahead to the Thomas Tank Engine cornor till the adults took care of BUSSINESS. Then the kids whined when it was time to go.

Family friendly way to learn about old school transportation

This museum is in a real old roundhouse near downtown, and features trains, streetcars, and lots of interactive exhibits. Very popular with families and kids. The Transportation Museum also runs the Como-Harriet streetcar museum near Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. These are first-rate attractions and very popular, so don't be surprised if the JSR is packed on weekends.

Incredible place for kids, history buffs and train addicts

Can't say enough good things about this living museum. A co-worker went there with his son who spent all afternoon there. We had a great time playing with the toy trains, exploring the roundhouse and taking a 10 mph ride on a real train. There are a lot of things to look at such as model trains, a working shop,...

This place is a really great place to visit with the family. The volunteers are totally awesome. One retired veteran took my two boys, ages 9 and 13, and showed them the finer points of driving a train and how the engineer and conductor work together.
