I'm really surprised at the other comments - i had a great time staying at Island Place.
I stayed there for 11 nights in the summer. The rate was really cheap, and the rooms were spacious too - and clean. The kitchen was well stocked, and there was a barbeque in the courtyard which was free for residents to use....

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! Do not stay at innkeeper Susie's place... as we affectionately called it...... Bad area of town. The neighbors got into a domestic dispute while we were there. It is really really far from the Square. There was sand in the sheets of the bed, a really dirty bathroom, holes in the walls where little insects could crawl...

The Island Place Inn Key West, FLThere were parts of the room that you could tell someone had tried very hard to make nice. Two or three pieces of new furniture, reasonably new tropical print linens and curtains. But it was as though they hadn't finished this room yet. The faucet in the bathroom would not rotate to hot water,...
