Muy bueno!!

Very good food! Get the lemondade, it's filling in itself! I've been going here for over 10 years.

Irma and her family dish out home-style Mexican specialties to a wait-in-line breakfast and lunch crowd (weekdays only) of lawyers, judges, cube-dwellers, and sports fans. The surroundings may be homey, but this place is not cheap—still, the food has made Irma's a local landmark. There's no menu: your server will tell you what is available. Opt for the chicken-and-spinach enchiladas with green...

"Menus? we don't need no stinkin' menus" is the m.o. at this funky Downtown Mexican where "Irma herself" "tells you what they've got each day" and customers choose from an array of "wonderfully authentic" dishes (don't miss the rightly famous lemonade); it's a "fun" place and a local "institution", though a few find fault with bills that feel a touch "overpriced."

Irma's Restaurant Review

Irma’s longtime fans include politicos and lawyers headed down to the courthouse who stop in the funky little eatery for hearty Tex-Mex breakfasts, strong coffee and Irma Galvan’s famous lemonade; office workers and a few tourists round out the lunch crowd. Galvan herself has been known to sit down at tables and chat with customers, and the charm of the restaurant is that it really feels as if...

With the excitement of the nearby ballpark and the surge in downtown loft living, more and more folks are discovering the charm of Irma’s, long a bright spot in the warehouse district on the northeast corner of downtown. A lunchtime favorite of downtown powerbrokers, legal eagles and office workers, it now has lines forming early and snaking onto the street. To ease the wait, Irma herself works...

For friendly service and hospitality as warm as the enchiladas and salsa, pull up a chair at this downtown landmark.

In Short
This tiny spot is a delightful jumble of home furnishings and bric-a-brac blanketed by the intoxicating smell of Mexican home cooking. Serving only weekday breakfast and lunch,...

I eat a plant-based diet (vegan), so my husband called Irma's before our first visit.... I cannot say enough about how accommodating the staff was, including Irma herself! They prepared a delicious vegan meal for me, which Irma personally served. After our meal, she kindly told us of the history of her amazing restaurant. I could go back tonight! A true Houston gem!

This is an interesting place tucked away on the outskirts of downtown. I found the place interesting, but way overpriced. There is no menu so you just order what the waiter tells you they have...

They Don’t Need no Stinkin’ Menu??? Yes, They Do!

I will not be eating here after my last visit. Irma personally took care of our group after a Astros game. Even though the food was OK, I would say the prices were not the one or two dollar signs. There is no menu. A margarita cost 12.50, a beer was 4.50 and a soft drink was 3.50. I was very puzzled that even though we split the checks that Irma expected a 20% tip for herself being the owner. I...

Irma's Restaurant

Downtown Tex-Mex haunt for politicos, VIPs and hungry Houstonians, despite the no-menu concept.
