Editorial reviews from the web (3)

This classy hotel bar ropes them in with great atmosphere and an extensive drink menu.

In Short
The sophisticated second-floor lounge attracts both savvy visitors and locals. This hotel bar has that classic upscale Texas look: dark wood, a marble-topped bar, leather chairs...

Modernized historic hotel in the middle of downtown.

In Short
This landmark hotel was built in 1924 and every restoration has tried to keep that era intact: from the balconies overlooking the street to the grand entryway staircase. Still,...

Enjoy lunch, drinks and one of the finest views downtown.\r

The Scene
\r Stephen F's, on the second floor of the Stephen F. Austin Hotel, has the expected comfortable chairs and low lighting, but also a broad balcony on the building's western and...

The good: the location, facility, rooms.
The bad: I'm a platinum ambassador with the IHG group, something you have to buy into, so it's not just a loyalty reward. Basically, it's like paying Delta to be Sapphire rather than having to earn miles. It wasn't just that the hotel didn't provide several of the services I paid for through the...

This hotel has the most supportive concierge I could ever imagine! We have not even gotten on the plane yet and Rebecca has helped assure a fun-packed visit to Austin by suggesting restaurants, music and dancing locations, and comedy clubs. This takes hospitality to a whole new level! Virtual!!

My husband and I had a relaxing one day get away and ultimately a fabulous time. The room was updated and clean.
It was cold (BRRR!) outside, so we never left the hotel. We had drinks and dinner in the hotel restaurant, Roaring Fork, with my Austin family. Food was incredible as was the service.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Rave reviews for the entire staff from the guys that greet guest curbside, to the front desk staff that checks the guest into this luxurious hotel, to the restaurant staff that serves the delicious meals. The hotel is gorgeous - large rooms with extremely comfortable beds and great lighting.
Fitness room has great workout equipment and amenities. A very comfortable...

Beautiful hotel, the room was quiet and very comfortable, Nice place for a week end getaway or for a wedding venue. over all very elegant. Valet parking was fast and friendly although many restaurants are with in waking distance.

The InterContinental Hotel Stephen F. Austin is only minutes from the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum....

This historic hotel first opened in 1924. Eventually, it closed its doors, and for many years it looked as if it was shut down for good. But a multi-million-dollar renovation brought it back to life at the turn of the millennium. Today, it is popular with business travelers and downtown revelers --- not to mention lobbyists petitioning their causes in the nearby State Capitol complex. Each of...

Tips about this business (6) view all

Where to Sit

The most pleasant tables are outside, on the wraparound terrace overlooking Congress Avenue.

The Extras

If you haven't abandoned the cigar fad, you'll find an impressive array of fancy smokeables in an even fancier display case. Don't miss the macho brand names like the "Hemingway Signature," "Prince Philip" and "Bully."

Afterwards

See the essentials of Central Austin in our Downtown Walking Tour.

Got All That?

Breakfast is served downstairs at Cafe Julienne. Lunch is also served therein the winter, when Stephen F's functions only as a bar and it's too cold to eat outside.

Parking

Avoid the hassle and let the valets at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel park your car for you. Just pull up at the front door facing 7th Street.
