This leafy tract is a beautiful section of protected shoreline and wetlands. Thick swaths of forest and glistening bay views are the main attractions, with picnic areas and playgrounds filling in the open spaces. The 3-mile Ellis Cove Trail, with interpretive stations, bridges, and nature settings, runs right through the Priest Point Park area and around the Olympia coast.

"Breakfast heaven" say fans of Ina Pinkney's West Loop New American that delivers "good old-fashioned comfort food" (offered at lunch too) via "warm" staffers known to "treat you like a relative who is actually liked"; the "simple" space "lined with salt and pepper shakers" is complemented by a "welcoming" vibe, and affordable prices are another reason it comes "highly recommended."

What Restaurants Did the Experts Break Up With in 2013?

Steve Dolinsky, ABC7: Kuma's and Kuma's II: Like Graham Elliot, just way too much hype and no substance (not to mention Clockwork Orange-like torture music in dining room). OON: terrible first-date, and now extremely gun-shy about going back.

Amy Cavanaugh, Time Out Chicago: I used to recommend Purple Pig to everyone who came to town, but then I had such a lackluster meal there this year that...

2013: The Year In Shutters

December
The biggest surprise hands down is also among the year's very last. Graham Elliot's announcement that he would close his namesake restaurant after service New Year's Eve, was casually announced on Chicago Tonight while Elliot was being interviewed about the passing of Charlie Trotter. Elliot promised a "greatest hits" of menus past as well as a look into the future of GE once it...

The service was very slow. I had the Paris omelet and was very pleased. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles. I tried the chicken, the breading was chewy on crispy and the chicken was very bland. What ruined it for us was the very slow service, and being treated as though we were the problem. They will be closed...

One Lunch Gem

"Accidentally" dropped by, was very, very, very surprised about the quality of the food and service and afterwards learned that this seems to be one of the best breakfast and lunch places in town. Now, that's an honor well deserved.
Had their signature dish. Recommendable!
