HUB 51 is the River North creation from R.J. and Jerrod Melman, the younger generation of the Lettuce Entertain You organization. HUB 51 is a convergence of entertainment, nightlife, dining and social activity-much like the offbeat creations of LEYE were years ago. Striving to be at the heart of Chicago's social and dining scene, the attitude at HUB 51 is to expect the unexpected, a place...

While Hub 51 is usually packed to the brim, we can’t say we completely understand its mass appeal, as the food and service strike us as nothing more than average on a good day. Our best guess? Its killer location in the heart of River North and a see-and-be-seen crowd, propelled by the heirs to the Lettuce Entertain You throne, R.J. and Jerrod Melman. If you do happen to find yourself seated...
The "see-and-be-seen set" pack this "trendy" River North American-Eclectic serving "diverse" "upgraded bar food" (sushi, burgers, tacos) in addition to a "fantastic" brunch; "informed" staffers tend the "modern" space where "twentysomething scenesters" "tweet", "watch a game" or enjoy a "night on the town" that continues on to the "hopping" club Sub 51 downstairs.
This high-energy eatery is definitely a scene -- with polished singles and couples lingering over drinks in the dimly lit, clublike dining room. Stylish setting and clientele aside, the place also offers some legitimately good globally inspired food. The large, varied menu ranges from light offerings (sushi rolls with miso-glazed salmon; shrimp ceviche; a Brussels sprout salad with dates,...
Server was great!
Great food and professional atmosphere.
The food is consistently good. The problem was this. I ordered the Thai basil but wanted more protein not more sushi. Asked if possible could I get the salmon side which is option to top any salad. Server said yes of course. Well he comes back 15 minutes later saying they cannot do that but I can order the entree salmon but have them hold the vegetable. He went on to explain that the sushi...
Great attentive service. Very tasty sushi and main entrees
As frequent customers at Hub 51, we were saddened to be told that sushi is not a part of the brunch menu starting the day of our visit (which is the reason why we always head there!)

If it seems like HUB 51 is a continual party, that's just what creators R.J. and Jerrod Melman want. Their dad, Lettuce founder Rich Melman, always told them that the restaurant business should be fun, and, as Jerrod now interprets that advice, We want to be as playful as possible, and have a good time with our customers and the people we work with. Our goal for the menu was to create food we...
