he hotel was originally built in 1914 by a successful local grocer as a residence hotel for his buyers. The name was inspired by the lush riverfront surroundings reminiscent of the Caribbean island city, and the Mediterranean Revival design of the building reflects this influence and the Spanish Colonial architecture of surrounding San Antonio. Hotel Havana's pan-Latin influence pays tribute to...
The hip Hotel Havana is a boutique oasis on the north end of the River Walk with a colorful Cuban-inspired flare and bold artwork housed in its rather modest outward appearance. Originally built in 1914 as a hotel residence by a local grocer, the hotel has changed hands numerous times over the past century, at times receiving a breath of new life into the grand Mediterranean Revival building as...
San Antonio's most bohemian boutique hotel occupies a Mediterranean Revival structure built in 1914 and feels as though you've wandered into an exotic British-colonial gentleman's club. You'll find teak and wicker chairs from India, beds fashioned from the grillwork of old buildings, and vintage chairs from French hotels and bistros. Don't miss Club Cohiba, the martini bar in the basement. It's...
Liz Lambert, the owner of Saint Cecilia and San José in Austin, recently purchased this classic, three-story hotel located by the River Walk in the northern part of downtown. She has removed the clutter and decorated the rooms in a spare manner that lets the cool white walls, dark-wood trim, and handsome wood floors take center stage. Rooms, as with the owner's other properties, received a...
This inn was constructed nearly a century ago as a residential hotel. Today, it combines the personalized charm of a B&B with the convenience of a larger luxury property. Its historic mood invites travelers to take a luxurious step back in…
Though no longer the River Walk's newest new thing, this is still a pretty hot bed stop. Decked out to suggest travelers' lodgings from the 1920s, this intimate inn -- built in 1914 in Mediterranean Revival style -- oozes character. All the guest quarters are delightfully different, with a safari hat covering a temperature control gauge here, an old photograph perched over a toilet paper roll...
Very hip, quiet hotel on the riverwalk, but a few steps removed from the main touristy part. The restaurant OCHO is fantastic - food and ambiance both great, with view of the river below. Downstairs Havana Bar is funky cool, dark and has great cocktails.
It was a nice place to stay. Right next door to where San Antonio holds concerts and other things. It was quiet and peaceful.
Traveling for a living, I'm always looking for something different at a reasonable rate. This is one of those places. Old hotel, with big, nicely decorated room.
I should have know to expect some noise when I saw earplugs on the nightstand. (This room overlooked the bar/lounge). First night was fine, but they had an event on the 2nd night, which a) took all the parking, and b) provided...
First - when we checked in i specifically asked for a quiet room and was reassured that our room was very quiet. It was except for it overlooked the restaurant and we heard conversations and music from the restaurant until midnight. And not just a little - it was like we were sitting at the bar. The floors are so...
If you are in town to relax and you want a place that's near everything but not on top of the party of the Riverwalk, you've found it. At first glance we were pleasantly surprised at the vintage decor and stunning hardwood floors. Our room was beautifully simple with a huge, tall, comfortable bed with lots of pillows. We bring...
