Be very aware that once you consign with Home Décor Consignment in Manahawkin NJ you may be giving up the rights to your merchandise even though it is in fact still yours. When you have decided it's time to part with your personal items to try and make some extra cash or reduce the clutter you may have, you no longer control what they are sold for or potentially claim the right to get them back which is the case with consigning with Home Décor Consignment. I consigned items there in the hopes that not only would these items would be sold but that the owners would be faithful enough to send me 50% portion of the profits as agreed upon from the sale of any items sold. I had agreed on a special arrangement with the owners that contrary to the standard agreement that they have you sign upon consigning that they would inform me by phone or email which they had me provide at the time of consigning once they felt the items could not or were not selling and I would come reclaim them. Instead upon trying to retrieve MY personal property on several occasions I finally reached one of the owners who told me that they disposed of it. I never received a phone call, letter or email informing me to come an get over $2500.00 in new tagged merchandise. Instead for all I know they sold the merchandise themselves and kept the money. It's very unfortunate that businesses like this continue to profit by the help of using someone else's property in order to gain from it. Although I never had bad business dealing with other consignment shops in the area or with Home Décor Consignment in the past the fact is I have now. I would hate for some other consigner to have to go through what I am dealing with right now. From now on I will only use Craigs List, eBay or yard sale my items so that a business like this can't take advantage of what is not rightfully theirs to begin with.
