Help us make it rightA hidden gem of a park - beautiful trails to explore on Cape Rosier and on the actual island if you have transportation. Lots of great trails - and very little traffic
Beautiful trails. Great little beach with picnic tables. Very well kept up. Remote, peaceful and a nice place to visit if you are close by.
Maine is a beautiful place in summer. We heard about this place from people who got there by boat. I suspect that is an ideal, as part of the preserve, Holbrook Island, can only be accessed that way. We drove there. It took longer than we thought it would. Once we got there, we started exploring. Nice bathrooms to use...
This park isn't easy to find, but it is well worth the effort. Many hiking trails and
great birding. If your lucky enough to have access to a boat, the island and its
sun warmed beach is great for wading (this is by Maine standards of course) and their is a rope swing there too.
We visited this beautiful park last year on Labor Day weekend so I figured it would be the ideal place for a picnic this past Labor Day weekend. Well, it was just as beautiful and serene as I had remembered and we fired up the grill for lunch.
MOSQUITOES! HUNDREDS of them!!! I had been wise to bring bug spray...
Holbrook Island Sanctuary is located at 172 Indian Bar Rd, Brooksville, ME..
