Good Food Gone Bad

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Recently though the food has been less than mediocre and my last visit was the worst ever. The menu has changed to small plates, pizzas, sliders, ect. Not the kind of food I came there for and what Himmarshee's is known for. I was disappointed just looking at the menu but thought I'd give it a try. Man, was I in for some disappointing food. The...

Upscale Restaurant in the Heart of it All

First off: was surprised by the attentiveness and knowledge of the waiter. I'd been here once as a bar\club, so wasn't sure how the restaurant would be. The menu was diverse and appealing, the wine list complemented that. Pricey? Yeah, a bit. I did the Taste of Himmarshee for $35. Still not cheap, but not bad. Had the Greek Salad, which looked fresh, but lacked a little taste. The Feta maybe...

Overly Complex Recipes

Each dish has 2-3 more ingredients than it needs, and everything is extremely rich to the point where just a few bites is enough. Examples: the Veal Brasale appetizer is overly seasoned and it's hard to taste the veal. The Gorgonzola-stuffed Dates includes a maple syrup dressing, which it doesn't need as both dates and gorgonzola are rich enough by themselves. The salmon has a nice zesty...

Himarshee For Lunch: Yes

Favorite restaurant in Fort Lauderdale especially for lunch. Dinner is quite pricy. The appetizer Steamed Mussels is marvelous. The Mac & Cheese is better than I've had anywhere.

Loved the Sea Bass

Average Rating

I went here with my girlfriend on a trip down from Massachusetts. We had dined two days prior at Bonefish Grill and I had the sea bass there, which I had never actually had before. So, I figured I'd try it again here and it was excellent. My girlfriend had pork chops and for dessert we split apple cake with cinnamon ice cream. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back.

Business description (1)

This is a popular local spot, both for drinks and for dinner. The menu was painstakingly designed to stand out from the competition, the result being a distinctive and artistic selection of Cuban-inspired seafood dishes. It would seem that the efforts of Chef Peter Boulukos are well appreciated, as Himmarshee's almost always has a full house. The restaurant is semi-casual, and draws a primarily...
