I went and I don't know what I was expecting, but I thought this was so creepy. Like, really creepy.
Advise going during the day, it's safer and you obviously can see all of the artwork clearly. Take lots of photos, since it is probably a once in a lifetime visit.
I have visited The Heidelberg Project countless times over many years and always find it intriguing and thought-provoking. Clearly, it is not for everyone - if you are only able to appreciate art that is framed and on a wall, then maybe this place is not for you.
