Spritz Burger's "undersalted" beef burgers with "frequently unstable toppings" are the restaurants biggest problems according to The Reader's Mike Sula. He states that the reconcepted restaurant "feels little different from Hearty."
Whimsical fare and decor are combining at Spritz Burger, the revamped Hearty, which is opening on Valentine's Day, appropriately enough. Owners Steve McDonagh and Dan Smith whittled the burger options down to 13, employing ingredients such as Spam, grey chutney, pepperoni sauce, house-made ketchup, and cheese curds. Eight of the patties are grass fed beef while others are shrimp and scallop,...
Say goodbye to Hearty and say hello to Spritz Burger soon. Owners Steve McDonagh and Dan Smith (the Hearty Boys) are reconcepting their Lakeview restaurant into a "vintage seltzer and burger bar" and bringing chef Gale Gand along for the ride. Hearty will close after New Year's Day brunch service and reopen around a month later.
McDonagh says that economics, the changing neighborhood, and a...

Hearty has re-imagined classic comfort foods and peasant dishes and made them fit for kings. They have a rotating/seasonal menu and craft beers so you will be tempted with something new each time you visit. Their wait staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about appropriate food/drink pairings. The only downside was that the tables are very cozy...meaning they are very close together. Don't...
Used to live near Hearty and went almost every week for Brunch. Service is always friendly and impeccable. The changing menu always keeps things interesting, so I've rarely ordered the same thing twice. Even though I live on the east coast now, I still eat there whenever I'm in Chicago. On this latest visit, I had a reservation for 8, 2 friends bailed, but someone else in the party had invited...
Went on a date to Hearty and had a phenomenal experience. The server was attentive, friendly, and helpful! We were overly thrilled with his knowledge and repartee. Sadly I cannot recall his name. He went above and beyond for my guest and I and would like to commend him for his dedication to customer satisfaction. The food was wonderful and beautifully presented. I will certainly be a return...
This is our go to restaurant for a nice night out. Tried the quail and it was amazing. Love our waitier, James, and our bartender Rachel. Recommend to anyone and everyone.
Food was ok....there was quite a lot that we wanted to try but I don't know that I would order the Beefaroni again. We ordered the fried mac and cheese (cannot remember the exact name) and it was freezing cold on the inside. Service was good but if I went again, I would try something else.
