Editorial reviews from the web (9) view all

No need to “rock hard” to visit this chain link just off the Magnificent Mile (many guests are business travelers), but a “party-ish atmosphere”, slick lobby, and a “cool vibe” means it “doesn’t feel like every other upscale hotel” -- though it's still a “luxurious” experience, with “comfy beds” in the "roomy" digs; loaner guitars and a bar hosting live music mingle with more traditional...

The restaurant chain may not be that wonderful, but the hotel—flashy, loud, and packed with plasma TVs—has our approval; set within the glitzy, Art Deco 40-story Carbide and Carbon Building, it has modern rooms adorned with rock-and-roll paraphernalia and a busy bar, Angels & Kings. Ask for a tower room, which comes with striking views of Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, and the Chicago River....

Despite the name, you'll pass more business travelers than rock stars in the hallways, but the Hard Rock's eclectic decor gives it an edgier vibe than other Loop hotels. The overall theme here is music: Rock tunes echo throughout the lobby, glass cases display pop-star memorabilia, and guests are offered free Gibson guitar rentals during their stay. But the mix of old and new can be somewhat...

Editorial review from KidScore

The Hard Rock Cafe is a great place for family fun and dining in a rock-and-roll atmosphere. Many locations provide on-site or street...

Rock 'n roll lodgings in the heart of the Windy City.

This hotel offers a nice study in contrast. Its exterior preserves the landmark, 1929, Art Deco Carbide and Carbon Building, while its interior reflects a more contemporary style well-known to aficionados of the Hard Rock brand. Although the hotel declares it will make you feel like a rock star, in fact---thankfully---it is actually a somewhat subdued destination. Sleek accommodations include...

Amazing bed, good city visiting location

This is a modern hotel where famous rock stars often stayed and enjoyed the city life. We may still admire original scene costumes and guitars exposed in halls of this hotels. As for standard room: room is cozy but pretty dark, features additional comfortable seating for reading and writing table. Walls seem needing some refreshment (paint cracking here and there)...

Great Experience

Everything about our experience was excellent. While we are not into the "rock" experience as such, we found this hotel to be very attractive even to middle age main stream clients such as us. Quiet and relaxed environment where it needed to be with more lively atmosphere available to those desiring such. Location excellent to take advantage of many attractions...

My wife and I stayed for an overnight a few days ago. Everything went well at first... then get to the freezing room and even when I turned the heat up to 80 is was drafty and cold. Someone on our floor was smoking pot and it stunk up the whole room. I told the counter, but nothing ever came...

Don't stay here

Ok- here we go... I've been a lot of places and several Hard Rock properties so I know what I speak. This hotel is bar none- the worst I've seen. The first night, they put us beside the ice machine ( which was not enclosed) so we heard everyone from 15 floors getting ice. I. Between that, we heard ice...

My husband and I went for 5 days in January of this year (2016). And i can say the location is just perfect, we didn´t take a single taxi. all the attractions and shopping, was close, in the worse case around 20 minutes walking!. The hotel is little old but nice deco, very clean and the staff nice and helpful....

Look Good: There is more than 9,000 square feet of meeting space in the hotel. The Hammer Room, with its terrace overlooking Michigan Avenue, is a prime spot for a small wedding dinner or office party.

Save Money: Complimentary DVDs for guest use are available at the front desk. Each room comes with a CD of Chicago tunes.

The Extras: While there's no on-site spa, there are two spa rooms. The hotel contracts with Windy City Massage for in-house services.
