A local legend for its chowders and burgers, Halibut Point is a friendly tavern that serves generous portions of good food. We opted to sit outside on their patio, which is only open on weekends, on a recent afternoon. The original tavern was built by Howard Blackburn in 1900, following his dramatic survival voyage. The wave once lapped the back on the building as the harbor front extended though what is now the parking lot. Our pub has had a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere since 1982.
