Hakkasan Takes Majority Slice of h.wood Group

It's a measure of faith put into L.A.'s nightlife scene. Hakkasan Group, which owns a slew of clubs and restaurants around the world, including an expansive namesake eatery in Beverly Hills as well as Brian Malarkey's Herringbone in West Hollywood, has acquired a majority stake in The h.wood Group. Founded by John Terzian and Brian Toll, the budding nightlife impresarios have established Bootsy...

Lion Dance at Hakkasan; Guisados Brews Stumptown

BEVERLY HILLS— From January 29 to February 8, Hakkasan is serving a supplemental Cantonese menu dedicated to Chinese New Year. And for those who fancy dinner and a show, the sleek eatery will showcase a Lion Dance (a ceremonial performance that is supposed to bring good luck) at 8:30 p.m. on January 31. [EaterWire]

EAST SIDE—Tacos + coffee is a thing. In other Guisados news, the Echo Park...

Hakkasan Ltd. Takes Controlling Stake in EHGRP

Global restaurant and nightlife group Hakkasan Ltd. has taken majority ownership of James Brennan's Enlightened Hospitality Group (EHGRP), the parent company that operates San Diego chef Brian Malarkey's set of restaurants, in addition to Stingaree nightclub, also in San Diego. The deal makes Hakkasan Ltd. "the majority stakeholder for all EHGRP entities," says a...

Hakkasan's Armando Conway Explains Cost of Cocktails

The price of cocktails seems to constantly rise. A few years ago, a craft cocktail would hover a little over $10, maybe $11. And now, $12 is the going rate for a drink, whether it's good or not. The problem with this rise is that sometimes the taste and quality doesn't add up to that price. And drinks are starting to edge closer to $15, or even $17, making the price of one visit to a bar...

This upscale Cantonese chain, with branches in far-flung locations that include New York, London, Mumbai and Abu Dhabi, lands in Beverly Hills; its elegant fare (with prices and hushed service to match) is offered in an equally posh space that's dominated by soft lighting and polished wood.

I've been to several Hakkasans around the world. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this one maintained the same level of ambiance, service, & quality of food. Equally as surprising - this Hakkasan is as loud as all the others! Hakkasan - you can maintain your trendy vibe without blaring music into your diners' ears. It dilutes the experience.
