On or about 24 April 2009 I called a Texas gun dealer and I ordered and purchased a 9mm Berretta pistol. The salesman name was Steve he asked me where I lived and he suggested that I use gun masters 5001 K Ave Plano TX 75074 to do the FLR transfer. He told me that the gun would arrive at the store on 29 April 2009. I called the store on 30 April to see if the gun was there they told me it was. I arrived at Gun masters at 4:00pm and attempted to pick up my previously purchased firearm. The salesman said I needed a Texas drivers license with a utility bill with the same address on it. I told him I was in the US Army and that I was stationed here and lived in Plano. He said that the federal ATF form 4473 paper work states that you must have a Texas drivers license and thats the only ID that is required to purchase a hand gun in Texas. He got really upset with me and said you have to leave and I will send the gun back when I get time. I asked if I could speak to the owner of the store or the manger. He said I will get the owner. I showed a gentleman with gray beard a copy of my orders and my military Id and he tried to push them on the floor off from the counter. He said very loudly these documents are no good in Texas. You have to leave my store now and never come back. I again asked him are you refusing to file a 4473 for me. I asked what is going to happen to my property that I purchased. He said very loudly when I get time I will send it back to them and get out of my store and dont return unless you are escorted by a police officer.
I called the dealer where I purchased the gun from and talked to Steve I told him the above and he said he had never anything like this before in his twenty years of selling guns. I asked him how he is going to get my property to me. He told me he would find another dealer to do the 4473 for me. Right now Gun masters have breached the contract that I have made with you by with holding my property from me for no reason except that they dont like US Soldiers. I filed a complaint also with the NRA and the local ATF office and with the state of Texas. All of which have never heard of a law that requires a Texas drivers license to fill out the ATF form being the only form of ID accepted. I have requested that the gun dealer does not use them in the future. I had the gun shipped to another dealer in Plano that completed the transaction. Very arrogant attitudes if you ask me they dont like US soldiers at all. I recommend not to go there unless you want to waste your time.
I agree completely with Collin County Shooter above. I've been in this store twice. Both times I waited for more than 10 minutes before anyone asked me if they could help me find something. When someone finally got around to noticing me, their attitude was one of apathy. They really seemed like they didn't care if I bought something or not. When I asked for advice, the clerk just shrugged. On my last visit, in the middle of a conversation with a clerk with tobacco stained hands and a dirty-collared shirt, the guy just walked off and started staring at a television screen.
The prices in this store average 10-20% higher than any others I've been in. The used handguns in the cases have obviously never been cleaned: powder residue all over the grips and dirty oil in the slides/cylinders. It is obvious they care little for their inventory, and don't care about customer service at all.
Overall, it's amazing this store stays in business. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
Great service and very knowledgeable staff. Gunsmith is usually backed up but most good gunsmiths are. Prices are usually better than the gunshows and the store stands behind what it sells. Good selection of reloading stuff. The option to special order guns not currently in the store is a big plus. I would shop there again and recommend to others.
Great place with great selection and competitive prices. The staff is the most knowledgeable gun folks I have run into. They are always willing to help and go that extra mile. No place has everything they have most things. If they told me that tomorrow is Christmas I would hang my stocking tonight.
I am tired of seeing negative reviews of this store.. I am writing this just after having made another of several firearm purchaes here; and each one seems to be getting better than the last. In this case, I was undecided between a new Taurus 66 revolver and a used Ruger GP100. I examined the new Taurus …
Yesterday I stopped in with my son. Three people behind the counter talking with each other and completely ignored us when we walked in. They were too busy gripping about Dianne Feinstein. There were 2 Sigs under the glass I wanted to see not once did they ask if they could show me anything. Rude …
Stopped by around lunch today and there were a few people there ahead of me but the first employee that freed up from another customer asked if I needed any help and quickly assisted me. They did the work on my rifle within a few minutes and I was out the door for a very reasonable price. I didn't …
Walked in with a G27 with stock sights and ten minutes later walked out with a G27 with a perfectly installed set Truglo sights. Great service with a smile.
Looks like the planets aligned perfectly on Jan 2, 2010 and produced a perfect storm of bad events that generated a slew of back-to-back bad reviews. LOL!!! Seriously, guys?? The one or two people who took so much time to badmouth Gunmaster over and over again couldn't think enough ahead to space out their venom? Well, what can you do - the world takes all kinds.
