Pros: I did receive much needed cataract surgery & I was able to have lab work done to evaluate my control over type 2 diabetes.Cons: It was difficult to get much help. The cataract surgery that I did eventually get, I had to push for. Although the Retina Specialist that I go to recommended that I have this surgery so that they could see the into back of my eye better, it was still something I had to argue for. Diabetics need to have A1c tests done at least twice a year. I went an entire year without being scheduled for this very important test & then the nurse practioner got angry with me because it had gone up although it was still within the American Diabetic Assoc. guidelines. I was finally terminated (yes the word they used was "terminated") as a patient with no explanation. We did have an argument & they claimed that there was "no medical proof" that I was a diabetic. I receive treatment for diabetic retinopathy which I was told by the retina specialist was caused by long term diabetes. I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes by a real doctor who graduated medical school. If this facility doubted that I was a diabetic, they could have done a glucose tolerance test. I am a very well controled diabetic, lifestyle only & I should not be denied medical care because I do this. You would think that they would be glad. It does require diligence. No one ever said "good job". I now have nowhere to go for health care.Competency level: MinimalBedside manner: Unacceptably Poor

It seems to me that in this community, people that really do need help can't get, at least not without going through a lot of trouble. I personally know of people that are able bodied that are on welfare that don't really need it.
