I took a cab ride from Chicago & Western to Glenview on New Year's Eve and the cab driver told me that the charge would be $53. I agreed to that and proceeded to go home. Half way home, the driver turned off his meter. When he got off the highway he turned it back on. Meanwhile the whole ride he kept saying that I should "take care of him for the ride." The meter read $14.52 when he dropped me off. He proceeded to tell me that I must pay him $100 for the ride. I got ripped off and paid double. The police were called because I refused to pay such an outrageous amount. I ended up paying him $80 for something that should have cost me $50. I got harassed and ripped off! When I called to speak to the supervisor they did not offer adequate customer service. They did not want to refund me for the amount that I over paid, and the dispatcher was very rude! I am not calling Globe Taxi Association as a second means of transportation, nor am I getting into a cab with Ali Mubasnir. He is a scammer that is just looking to rip you off! He is also extremely rude, and the whole ride he said that I should tip him well because it was New Years Eve.
The customer service for Globe Taxi is the worst. Apparently no one informed them that the customer is always right in America. In the world of Globe Taxi the cab driver is always right. I have been calling Globe Taxi for the past week and have been speaking to a number of different people that have all been giving me false information. One supervisor, Arun told me that he could not refund me the money because the cab drivers call in all credit cards to private vendors and he simply can't even see the transaction. A couple days later on my debit card transaction list it stated: $80.00 deducted from Globe Taxi Association. Seeing this, I proceeded to call back and speak to someone else, Annil, another supervisor. Annil did not help me with anything and basically told me to f*ck off. He was extremely rude and kept saying he cannot take sides, even though the whole time he was supporting the side of his cab driver Ali Mubashir cab #35. When I called Globe Taxi the first time to issue a complaint against Ali Mubashir cab #35, Arun told me he would suspend Ali for three days, this did not happen. When I asked Annil if Ali was suspended, he told me "no." Don't even try to call customer service and demand a refund, they will just simply tell you off and take the side of their cab drivers, even though according to them, they are not their employees; they are merely private drivers that they hire.
GLOBE TAXI ASSOCIATION IS RUNNING A SCHEME AMOUNGST THEMSELVES AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT. If you don't want to get ripped off for your taxi ride, DON'T EVER take GLOBE TAXI, THEY SUCK!!!
I was riding my bike and crossed over the intersection of Clark and Waveland heading west. I moved onto the sidewalk to find a place to park my bike. When I rolled past Tuscany Restaurant (on my right) and made it to the alleyway I had to slam on my brakes. Globe Taxi number 621 jetted out in front of me without beeping and I slammed into the driver's side door of the cab and was hurled from my bike. When I approached the driver I was livid and started screaming at him for speeding so fast down an alleyway. In the collision, his drivers side mirror fell off and he had the audacity to say "You broke my mirror" and I replied with "No! You Broke Your Mirror When You Hit ME!" My bike's alignment was thrown way off and my brakes and reflectors were also damaged.
Somehow, I seem to be fine other than a few cuts and bruises. There were a lot of witnesses to him hitting me and then jetting out of there back into traffic. The manager of Tuscany Restaurant, Jeff, gave me his name and told me to call the Police to file a Hit and Run report. A dishwasher for Tuscany walking East towards Wrigley had a better view of the accident. He later said "that the Taxi Driver drove like he was drunk. He sped through the alley without any passengers, didn't beep when he came out to the street, and then slammed on his brakes way too late."
Watch Out For Globe Taxi 621. If you get in the cab you're probably a lot safer than if your out walking or riding a bike on the streets. This guy is dangerous.
