Embarrassing! As a German I went to this restaurant in hope to get some home food. All I get was embarrassment. It is a shame that they sell this food as German food and even worse that the Americans think that is German food.

A tip for the management. Learn how to cook frites. Put a decent mustard on the table. Use beef brisket for the reubens instead of that cheap bottom round cured to taste like cb. Learn how to make potato salad instead of buying it in a tub.

Since 1955, this beloved Nashville landmark has been best known for its beer-hall atmosphere and classic German food. From its plum perch across the street from LP Field (home of the NFL's Tennessee Titans), chances are the Gerst Haus will be endearing new fans of hearty Bavarian fare for generations to come. Hearty platters include the crowd-pleasing wiener schnitzel (breaded-and-fried veal)...

In Short
The Gerst Haus's interior is clean and bright, with light shining through pastel glass on maize-colored walls. German-flag bunting and framed hunting scenes give a hint of the...

An old, authentic, place in a mostly desolate industrial area that serves classic German items that are a bit pricey. The Goulash was delicious, but the Saurebraten lacked a certain zing that I...

I arrived back in Nashville today and joined my partner and a friend for lunch at The Gerst Haus. My rating of this eatery was tempered by a month or so of fairly crappy food in The Bahamas. So I...

Hands down the worst place in Nashville. Poor service. Took 15 minutes to get a water. And we were one of 3 tables being served at 8 pm. It's bad when you have twice as many staff than you do...

Know Before You Go

There really was a Gerst brewery in Nashville. The amber brew is now made in Evansville.
