Chef Georges Perrier's suburban digs are posh, from the French tiles in the bar to the ""P"" monogrammed onto the chair backs. Still, there's a prefab feeling. Maybe it's the...
If overpriced, inferior quality ingredients, poorly prepared, served with a doze of snobbism, in a pretentious atmosphere, is what you are looking for, Georges' is for you.
The bread basket was visually stunning, and if all we desired was to bask in it's beauty, it would have been great, unfortunately we were hungry. The bread was hard and dry. The ""epis"", (wheat stalk shaped loaves), were so hard, you could have broken a tooth, if you foolishly attempted to bite into one. The bread was served with only an oil dispenser, that did not dispense. No herbs, no seasonings, no salt or...
My husband & I went to George's for our anniversary. After reading the reviews of others on this site I was worried, but my fears were unfounded. Perhaps the staff is now better trained - but we had a lovely young (well, late 20's/early 30's) waiter who was very professional and knowledgable about the menu and wine. We started with the tuna cappchio (sp?) - which was wonderful and fresh. I had the salmon and my husband had the rib steak - both cooked to perfection. I worried that the salmon would be heavy b/c it is listed as being ""poached"" in olive oil - but just a wondful flavor and not...
I went to George's this evening with some business colleagues for dinner. The bar area is very nice and my drink was prepared adequately. There were butlered appetizers while we waited for our table. I ordered the Tomato and Mozzarella salad which was more lettuce than Tomato. I have ordered many Tomato and Mozzarella salads and this was by far the worst I have ever had. I was expecting (so was my colleague) large slices of beefsteak tomato with slices of mozzarella. This salad was mostly green with chunks of ?marinated? tomato with crumbled mozzarella on top. I really did not enjoy it. It...
I took my wife for lunch to Georges'. I had read a very positive review in a magazine and I expected this to be a very memorable experience. The surroundings and dining room are very pleasant and that added to our expectations.
We started by sharing a caesar salad which was good. The dressing was slightly different and the crostini was a pleasant change from the standard croutons. For the entree, I ordered a hanger steak medium-well. The steak that they served me was well-done to charred and the portion was extremely small for the $19 price. My wife and I both thought that the...
In May, we were a party of 30! We sat in the Garden Room. It was so open with natural sunlight coming in through the windows. The brunch was the creme de la creme. What a great choice! The Penne pasta sauteed with some grilled chicken and alfredo sauce was delish. At the omelet station, an egg white omelet with mushrooms, cheese and everthing else you can put into it, was so yummy. You can't get a breakfast this good anywhere. Before coming to Georges', La Croix's brunch was our favorite. But Georges' had an array of breakfast and lunch items that were more appealing to a large group like...
Slightly cheaper drinks, completely free hors d'oeuvres from 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday through Friday.
Ask for a table in the front dining room, which has a little more personality than the back room. Or try the bar, where the crowd is a bit more lively.
