The Frontier Culture Museum tells the story of the thousands of people who migrated to colonial America, and of the life they created here for themselves and their descendents. These first pioneers came to America during the 1600s and 1700s from communities in the hinterlands of England, Germany, Ireland, and West Africa. Many were farmers and rural craftsmen set in motion by changing...
Geja's Cafe: An Intimate Dining Adventure
Walking into a fine restaurant should evoke emotion in one's heart. Environment and aura are everything when it comes to having a truly unique and engaging eating experience. From the moment one's eyes are laid on the exterior of the building to entering the main entrance and seeing the interior for the first time, a great restaurant should captivate...
An outdoor living-history museum, the Frontier Culture Museum re-creates agrarian life in America. The four illustrative farmsteads, American, Scotch-Irish, German, and English, were painstakingly moved from their original sites and reassembled on the museum grounds. A West African village and an American Indian village are also among the exhibits. The livestock and plants here resemble the...
"Perfect for a first date", this "pricey" Lincoln Park "throwback" provides an "intimate setting with dark lights, heavy curtains" and "guitar serenades" as a backdrop for "tasty" fondues of cheese, beef, seafood and chocolate; an "extensive wine list" and "attentive" service stoke the "romantic" vibe, though neatniks warn the "haze of candles and cooking oil" means "dry cleaning is required";...

DIY, fondue-style cooking is the game, and you’ll do it --- quite leisurely --- with everything from aged beef tenderloin to lobster and Gulf shrimp. Adding to the allure, there’s often live guitar music. At meal’s end, few things are more fun than dipping strawberries in...
The Scene
Geja's is like a catacomb for lovers. After descending the steps from Armitage Avenue, you enter a tightly packed labyrinth of dark, wooden walls, fluttering candles, whispering... Pros + romantic Cons - fondue
Disappointed with the hostess. We were there early and asked for a booth for two. There were plenty open but she said they were for larger parties. Immediately after we were seated at a table she sat two people in an open booth right across from us. That was not nice not fair. She could have sat us in that both but just chose not to. Extremely disappointed by her and the customer service...
Another Great Meal at Gejas. Looking forward to continuing our tradition. 24 years and counting
I told the host that it was my friend's birthday, but they didn't do anything special for him. I was very disappointed because I didn't want to tell the server in front of my friend at the table. Also, I thought the cheese fondue wasn't authentic. I lived in Switzerland for many years, and since I just returned from a trip over there, I wanted to get my fix of good cheese fondue. Not close...
