Gateway Energy SVC

This is a GOTCHA company!

Use extreme caution with this company and ONLY if you check your statement every month and compare prices on the Internet. I was signed up for their "floating" rate which is the day to day rate for electricity and gas. This is the rate that National Grid would charge you if they were your supplier. I never signed up for Gateway Energy Services because they bought out my energy supplier that guaranteed a lower rate than National Grid. BUT when I compared prices, I was shocked and angry. If I used national grid for my supplier they would charge $.585 per therm but Gateway charges $.95 per therm! Similar discrepancies in the electric bill too. I called the Public Service Commission and they said sense these independent energy suppliers are not regulated, they can charge anything they want. The PSC guy on the phone said they can charge $.05 per therm one month and $2 per therm the next. The real problem with this whole scenario is it takes 2 months to change suppliers. I've paid hundreds and hundreds of extra dollars to Gateway this winter. I fret for all the people who of fallen into this same GOTCHA Company dilemma and who cannot afford all that extra money.
