My daughter and I went to the Garden in the Woods as part of the free museum day organized by the Smithsonian Magazine. I had never been there before and wasn't sure what to expect, but I'd say it's worth the visit.

It is very hidden not easy to find it. But very tranquil and pretty once you got into the garden. Friendly staff.
I can imagine that this place can be spectacular. However it was anything but. Simply because the gardens had peaked and were quite flowerless all over. I did ask about what was in bloom and was told several areas had plenty of blooming plants. They did not. I would suggest their site should post pre, peak and post peak timely...
