G Greene doesn't care about their employees. I worked there, on and off, for 4 years, and was laid off alot of the time. There was a picket on their Albany St job. Local 103 was picketing cause the General, Hamilton, hired non union electricians to save money. My union, Local 4, honored the picket. I told G Greene I was willing to work anywhere else until the dispute was resolved. They told me to get to work,regardless of what my Union said, and my safety as well. Crossing a picket line of upset, unemployed people isn't the safest place in the world- but they don't care about that. They're safe in their plush leather seats in front of their little computers. They said, "If you won't go against your union, your beliefs, and your safety, go home!" So I did. Later that day, they told me I no longer had a job, and that I had made the wrong choice by going against G Greene. On top of that, they told unemployment that I quit. A lowlife game they play so I can't collect. I have a girlfriend and an 18 month old daughter, quitting isn't something i could do- even if i wanted to! This just shows the G Greene mentality- If you don't do what we want, even if it effects your safety, we'll do whatever we can to make your life tough. They also threatened another operaters' job if he didn't go run my machine, and he's been there 10 years. They said, " you'll face financial troubles like Jay if you don't cross the picket line."
