Mardi Gras is fast approaching (this year falling on March 4) and Chicago's restaurants and bars are gearing up for Fat Tuesday celebrations. You can eat just about "any part of any animal" at this midpriced Noble Square gastropub where a "wild-game concept" plays out in "rustic, lodgy" environs; on the down side, it can be "really crowded" and "crazy loud" with "spotty service", but a "diverse" American menu including lots of oysters adds to reasons it's "very enjoyable", "if you get a seat"; P.S. there's a seasonal beer garden.

Went to Frontier tonight 16 Jan 2016,Saturday. Party of 5 near the door/stairs to bathrooms . Outstanding service, fast friendly ,never had an empty glass. Food was unimpressive. 2 order mac and cheese, great. Goat chili was more of a pulled pork dish. Wagu bacon steak,rare, no marbling ,dry ,unseasoned; bacon tasty, but undercooked. I went to The Frontier for dinner this evening because of rave reviews on Yelp for their chargrilled oysters. I missed the wonderful oysters that I got in New Orleans at Drago's, so I wanted to see if these came close. Not only did they come close, they tasted EXACTLY the same. Website said 3am, showed up at 1am and bartender said we missed last call. He also said they can change the hours anytime they want. There was easily 35 people in the bar. First time I was there...... And probably last time, And didn't even have a drink.

Thanks for an amazing evening for our friend's 50th! The atmosphere was convivial and relaxed and the service was kind and efficient. Your busboy in the patio deserves an attaboy for his great nature, too! Pork fat rules!

I love the atmosphere and the idea behind the menu. The food I have had is absolutely delightful but three times I have been (at a different time of day each time) and three times specials that are shown to me at the beginning of my experience are out. Also wish they had a full vegetarian dish as a main but that is neither here nor there.
