Expect a menu of classic dishes prepared by experienced cooks, and periodic appearances from the owner herself. Enjoy the house sangria, or a lime margarita. Brunch service is available on the weekends, which usually draws larger groups that are well accommodated by...

Editorial reviews from the web (2)

Slightly lower-key than its Andersonville sister, new addition to the Southport corridoor is a welcome one, with nary another Mexican joint in sight. Tangy, housemade margs, perfectly-sweet sangria and a well-blended dish of guac should get you started. Follow those with some chile rellenos or plantain enchiladas with the mole negro (the owner's grandmother's recipe) on the little outdoor...

Lakeview Mexican restaurant inspired by artist Frida Kahlo.

A chatty local clientele fills the tightly packed tables at this small Mexican storefront owned by two sisters. A sibling to Andersonville’s La Cocina de Frida, the restaurant dishes up caliente...

Started out well when they opened a few years ago, but their owner opened a second location near her home in the suburbs and spent her time there rather than at the Lakeview location.
Will miss their Tostadas which were excellent

Business description (5)

Frida's is located at 3755 N Southport Ave, Chicago, IL. This location is in the Lakeview neighborhood. This business specializes in Restaurants.

Since 2009 the company has been providing Retail - Family Restaurants.

Eating places

“The decor really makes you think of Frida” Kahlo at this colorful “semi-upscale” Andersonville “neighborhood Mexican” and its Lakeview sister featuring affordable “traditional fare with occasional twists” (and the “chips and margaritas are exceptional”); P.S. both serve up “alfresco” patio dining.

The decor in the dining room at this comfortable Mexican restaurant is devoted to the owner's artistic inspiration, Frida Kahlo. Expect a menu of classic dishes prepared by experienced cooks, and periodic appearances from the owner herself. Enjoy the house sangria, or a lime margarita. Tips about this business (3)

Where to Park

If you come during lunch or for an early dinner, parking shouldn’t a problem---provided there isn’t a Cubs game. When there is, it’s best to take public transportation since there are parking restrictions on many streets.

The Extras

Heading to Wrigleyville? The restaurant plans to host Cubs-themed events and brunches before games, so call ahead to see what's on the docket.

Know Before You Go

Margaritas and sangria are the main focus of the drink menu. However, the house-made “cazuela” gets props in the creativity department. It’s a blend of fresh-squeezed orange, grapefruit, lime and lemon juices with tequila and brandy that arrives in its namesake clay bowl.
