This hospital is ok for minor stuff like ear aches, sprains, stiches etc. Anything needing more care then this, I would bypass this hospital and go to U of M or Saint Joe. Having a baby there is ok, especially if you live in Jackson and your family is nearby. The nursing staff is very under staffed. The ER is so, so. They make you wait hours and hours. I've used this hospital for over 40 years, and have had wonderful care MOST of the time. The hospital IS understaffed. Most nurses are caring, but very overworked. I think the emergency room staff is great for people brought in by ambulance (I was in an auto accident last year), but the wait for folks who aren't actually bleeding all over the floor or howling in pain can be abominable. The last time that I was at foote hospital was when my daughter came in by ambulence after she had fainted at a restaurant. The emergency room did not seem all that concerned at all. they let her lay there for at least 2 hours and finally sent her home with her blood pressure being 78 over 46 it was terrible. If you are ill and it's life threateneing do not i repeat do not go to foote hospital I would drive the extra 35 miles to ann arbor where at least you know you will have a chance to live. I have never seen such a crude uncaring staff as those who work in the emergency room, they don't care about you and they make you wait FOREVER for any kind of help please if you need help go to another...
