Despite its prime location near Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto, this decades-old spot with the cute name is a down-to-earth diner and bakery. (Another Fat Apple's thrives in El Cerrito.) The no-frills dining room décor includes light wood tables and a large mural tribute to Jack London; next door, a functional bakery counter greets a daily stream of hungry young people from the nearby middle school....

Fatapple's has a classic Americana menu that keeps us coming back. We enjoyed the juicy Pork Chop, Great Hamburger, and Chicken Pot Pie. Most menu item ate very good. Casual surroundings and nestled in more of a residential area. Good Pricing.
