Information about this business (2)

El Mestizo has some of the most unique and authentic Mexican food you can find in Seattle. Everything is fresh and delicious, following the time honored traditions of Mexican cooking. Stop by for happy hour Mon-Fri 3:30-5:30pm, $5 house margaritas,$3 beer!

Growing up in Mexico, good Mexican food is easy to find; from the family kitchen, to the taco cart on the street, to the small "fondita" in the town zocalo (plaza). After years of searching for a great Mexican restaurant in Seattle; we were left with a longing for the authentic Mexican flavors we only cook in our home kitchen. We wanted to create a Mexican restaurant that we could be proud of,...

Seems pretty authentic to me

I'm not an expert on Mexican food, but Mestizo's food seems very authentic to me. It is not the typical tex-mex style that other popular places serve (nothing wrong with tex-mex, I love it too).

The queso fundido is really good as is the stuffed pepper. I would love to go back again soon to try other items on the menu too.

The risk is too many of you will go there, but here goes: authentic and tasty and inexpensive and friendly wait staff. I had Huevos Rancheros for breakfast yesterday. Been on the hunt for this kind of place in Seattle. The hunt is officially over. No reason to go anywhere else!

el mestizo has quickly become my go-to spot for an extremely delicious and super quick lunch. i can be in and out in under 30 minutes, which is quite a feat at a sit down restaurant. their speed doesn't take away from the quality. you'll always have a super fresh, flavorful meal at el mestizo.

What to Drink

El Mestizo has a full bar, but specializes in tequila. If you don?t want it straight, try it in their mango jalapeño margarita. As for beer, they have Negra Modello and Dos Equis on tap?a must try if you've only had them bottled.

When to Go

Lunch time has been called the ?Swedish burrito hour,? so be prepared for longer waits between 12pm and 1pm. On weekday nights the pace is more laid back.
