"Purists" praise this "traditional" West LA Japanese specializing in simple, "ultra-fresh", "tender" fish "harmoniously" paired with "warm, vinegary rice" at prices that are moderate for the genre; just overlook the strip-mall decor, grab a seat at the bar and "go for the omakase"; P.S. the lunch set is one of the "best deals in town."

This is exactly the kind of place a lot of picky sushi lovers would pass by without a second thought, given its generic signage and unflattering mini-mall location. That, however, would be a mistake, since this is a high-quality establishment where the skilled, friendly owner turns out simple yet delicious morsels of seafood that he obtains daily from the fish market long before the rest of us...

My first visit to Echigo (with a friend who is a regular) blew me away.
We chose the Omakase (Chef's Choice!) at the Sushi Bar and have never tasted such fresh, delicate fish. Service was premier and friendly. Applause all around!
