East Atlanta mainstay changes its name but not its function as the neighborhood's only upscale lounge.

The SceneEastside's polished look contrasts with its more bohemian East Atlanta neighbors. Dark walls and carpeting ease the sharpness of the slick downstairs bar. Upstairs, warm red tones dominate the walls and furniture. The adjacent DJ booth and dim lighting encourages dancing on the upper level, while the main floor fills up with young singles and cute couples. You'll find Midtowners lounging in abundance, with local folks supporting the indie film nights. While Eastside offers several draught and bottled beers, cocktails better reflect the cool nature of the place. The DrawYoung...

Cool vibe

This is a cool place in east Atlanta to hang out, particularly with a group. Great dj's, and very un-stuffy environment.

I was in search of a liberal atlanta spot that lacked the so very common pretentiousness that I find in Georgia. East Atlanta isn't really my kind of...

The East Side Lounge is gross yet fun. Many thanks to the "bouncer" for giving my friends and me a group cover discount. I don't know what the entrance fee...

Low on Pretention, High on Fun

If you like your bars loud, raucous, and brimming with people, this is your spot. The bartenders are friendly, the DJs are tireless, and the people are fun. The downstairs area is frequently shoulder to shoulder, making innocent flirtation almost too easy. Protect your drink from spillage, and make your way upstairs where you'll find the dance floor. It's hot and crowded and jumping -- the way a dance floor should be.

Business description (3)

Eastside Lounge is one of East Atlanta Village's premier hot spots. The main floor lounge houses an award-winning bar that carries a full selection of beer, wine, liquor (including single-malt and blended scotches) and cocktails. The upper level features a large dance floor, with DJs and/or live music playing every night. Visit Eastside Lounge's Web site for a complete list of events.

Eminently stylish, this lounge (named for the Ayn Rand novel) pulls in a mix of patrons so that, refreshingly, no one cliquish crowd is represented. The brilliant red walls of the upstairs venue surround patrons with hip ambience, just as the movies and videos projected onto a large screen showcase the best in cinema and music. DJs spin top music throughout the week, perfectly in tune with the...

When the hipsters come out to play in East Atlanta, this is where they meet up. Much clubbier than the quiet taverns typical of this neighborhood, the Eastside Lounge has carved out its own niche and attracted a following from all over Atlanta. A long bar flanks the left side of the dimly-lit lower room, while upstairs, patrons sit in the loft lounge and watch art house flicks projected on the...

Tips about this business (6) view all

When to Go: DJ's spin every night. On Tuesdays, punk rock and new wave rule while Fridays with DJs Kamal and Solomon revisit the 80s.

Know Before You Go: If you don't want to wait in line for the two unisex bathrooms in the front hallway, walk to the end of the hallway for a less clean, but usually empty, washroom.

Where to Sit: The nook by the door offers the most secluded spot in the joint.
