The central feature of this cozy cafe is not indoors, but out back: a kitchen garden overflowing with the herbs and vegetables that populate the daily menu. Half orders are available for those with smaller...

Ate there today with a friend who said,

Ate there today with a friend who said, "This is 5-star dining at a 2-star price." I couldn't agree more. I had a lovely fresh salad within-house lemon-tarragon dressing.

Eastside Cafe Restaurant Review

Take in a leisurely meal at this cozy 1928 bungalow bedecked with little rooms painted in peaceful hues of slate blue and vanilla. The menu of home cooking demonstrates flair with seafood and meat, richly sauced pastas and vegetarian specialties. Several specialties have hooked us, including grilled ruby rainbow trout crowned with a shiitake mushroom-ginger cream sauce and the grilled meatloaf...

"They grow their own veggies" in the garden out back and source from local farms to compose the "amazing", "affordable" American menu at this "charming, cozy" Cherrywood "gem" set in a "quaint little" bungalow; it's "not haute cuisine", but a "down-to-earth" staff helps keep it tried-and-true.

This veteran of Eastside’s “restaurant row” feeds off its own organic garden. The comfy, converted-bungalow dining room suggests the type of place Mom would swoon over. Fresh. Healthy. Vegetarian. Those are key words on the menu. But, men, you can still scarf down a burger or steak. For health nuts in a hurry there's Pitchforks & Tablespoons, the attached garden store that offers takeout soups...

Eastside Cafe opened in 1988 as one of the first restaurants on Manor Road, now a bustling restaurant row with more than a dozen local cafes, taco joints, coffee shops, and pubs. The garden that Carla Blumberg started in 1982, by trucking in organic compost from her farm in Bertram, Texas, is still gardened today using only organic methods and practices. Although we buy the vast majority of our vegetables from conventional sources, we feature the vegetables, herbs and flowers that we grow, in our favorite soups, sauces, and vegetable side dishes, and as garnishes to...

An Austin tradition since 1988. Serving fresh veggies from our garden to your table.

Cafés, Brunch, Lunch: Charming Eastside Café is much more than just a neighborhood restaurant. Situated in a former residence, the café has several small dining rooms, a lovely enclosed patio room, a gardening/cooking shop, and a garden. The latter provides fresh produce for many of the kitchen's best creations, such as pesto ravioli, grilled pork tenderloin with cranberry-port sauce and...
