A vivid red awning beckons patrons of this spacious brasserie-style restaurant. The bar area and red banquettes are filled most nights with Boston's power players (members of the Red Sox management are known to stop in), thirtysomethings, and students from the nearby universities all noshing on raw-bar specialties and comfort dishes such as lamb-sausage rigatoni, rib eye, and burgers. It's a...

In honor of The Five Days of Meat, we've asked Boston food and drink personnel about their recommended pairings for a few specific meaty dishes, and we've been sharing their responses throughout the week. Finally, pairings for chocolate cake garnished with candied bacon, from a smoky 1920s madeira to Pappy Van Winkle. Previously: pairings for a platter of the fanciest charcuterie, the most...

Love Eastern Standard. Arrived during a snowstorm... this is a great place to hide out during a snowstorm, enjoy great food and drinks and the company at the table with you. AMAZING service. Love the mix of reliable standbys and really stellar options on the menu (bone marrow appetizer, anyone?). Great experience all around. Highly recommended.

Good food, fun place. Really disappointing that they had no Valentine's decorations or specials at all. I've been here for NYE and New Years Day and they had decorations and themes for both, won't be going back for holidays if they can't put up any decor.

This was my second time to Eastern Standard and it was just as great as the first. We went for a Valentine's Day Dinner and received exceptional service and food the entire night.

What to Drink: The bar whips up some impressive house drinks, including a rum punch with pomegranate juice. Also, there's an exceptionally affordable wine list that includes several bargain bottles.

Where to Sit: Though a bit upscale for the beery masses that descend upon Fenway Park, the restaurant's outdoor patio provides a fascinating spot for people-watching on game nights.
