Dim Sum Garden Restaurant Review

This former diamond in the rough, once located on a gritty block near Market Street East, has moved to bigger and brighter quarters in the heart of Chinatown. Although the restaurant now offers a clean, contemporary look, its star attraction --- soup dumplings --- is as mouth-watering as ever. If you’ve never tried soup dumplings, a Shanghai specialty, they're both a challenge to eat and...

You say “xio long bao”, we say “soup dumplings” – either way, they “steal the show” at this Chinese BYO, which relocated to a new, sleeker space in Chinatown in 2013; “fast” service also lets you order “sum more” for takeout.

You say “xio long bao”, we say “soup dumplings” – either way, they “steal the show” at this storefront Chinese BYO under a train trestle in Chinatown; fans suggest you “ignore the fluorescent lights and bus-stop atmosphere”, for it’s “far better than it looks”, and “fast” service will permit you to order “sum more” for takeout.

The soup dumplings get all the love at DSG (and rightly so), but don't sleep on the cold sliced pork either. The ideal porky one-two punch. PORK

Easily the best soup dumplings in town, but the whole menu is pretty much great. Cold cucumber is amazing, as are the scallion pancakes. An unabashed winner.

I actually accidentally left this review for the other dim sum garden. My visit was last year in February. I don't get the hype around this place. I've heard so many friends talk about how great...

I've been to this restaurant four times now, once with a large group. The food is hot, fresh and tasty. The service is attentive without being annoying. It is, quite simply, a practical, reliable,...

Dim Sum Garden has been on my list for a couple years now, and some friends and I biked past the new location last night at the end of the pope madness in Philly. We decided to stop in, and I...

What keeps me coming back? THE SOUP DUMPLINGS. It's been said a hundred times but I'll say it again. They are soo yummy. And the cherry on top is the delicious dumpling sauce. I could eat these...

Yeah, of course the soup dumplings rule. I like the pan-fried variety, you still get the soupiness, but you get the added crunch and sesame seeds on the top. The chicken-on-a-stick is sweet and sour and charcoal-y perfect.
